Finance Manager (6 Month Fixed Term Contract)



A diverse, privately-owned New Zealand business, with oversight of a of multi-entity structure.

Initially offered as a 6-month contract, there is potential for the role to extend due to an upcoming finance systems implementation project. With a comprehensive handover period available, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining people leadership with hands-on financial management.

The business operates across a varied portfolio including commercial property, residential property, hospitality, and utilities.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a team of four (Assistant Accountant and three Accounts Payable) while taking ownership of the finance function across a complex multi-entity structure.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the finance team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage month-end and year-end reporting, including consolidated financial reporting across a large multi-entity group.
  • Oversee cashflow management, banking relationships, funding facilities, and covenant reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance across GST, FBT, taxation, payroll, and statutory reporting obligations, working alongside external advisors where required.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, processes, and reporting integrity across multiple systems and ledgers.

About You



To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant experience within a multi-entity environment.
  • Strong financial reporting, consolidation, and month-end management capability.
  • Experience leading finance teams.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively across both operational and strategic responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
