Financial Administrator – Construction Industry

Location: Tauranga

Employment Type: Contract / Temp

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Administrator to support the financial operations of a growing construction business. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and smooth coordination between project teams, suppliers, and management.

The ideal candidate will be available to start immediately, comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and have a strong understanding of construction-related financial processes.

Key Responsibilities / Daily Tasks

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor and supplier invoices

Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements

Maintain accurate job costing records and track project expenses

Ensure compliance with GST and other regulatory requirements

Liaise with project managers, site supervisors and suppliers

Maintain organised and up-to-date financial and contract records

Required Skills & Competencies

Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Sound understanding of bookkeeping and financial administration principles

Ability to manage multiple deadlines across different projects

Confident communicator, both written and verbal

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, or similar)

Competent in Microsoft Excel and Office suite


Ideal Experience & Qualifications

2+ years' experience in a financial administration or accounts role

Previous experience in the construction industry (highly desirable)

Experience working with project-based or multi-entity accounts

Relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or business administration (preferred but not essential)
